Convert Paid App to System App

In the following topic i will just give you some hints on how to do that. I don't support it - i can't help you if you mess something up. Only continue if you know what you're doing

The system app folder is "system/priv-app". Please check if you have moved the app to the correct folder before sending support requests smile

I got this question many times, so i decided to give you some hints how to do that:

Converting a app to system app is pretty simple and there are plenty of tutorials when you google.

With jelly bean there came the feature of "app encryption" which encrypts paid apps.
You will need root to get to this paid .apks and be able to convert them.

Here you can read some detailed information: http://nelenkov.blogspot.ru/2012/07/usi … -bean.html

The interesting part:

shell@android:/mnt/asec/org.mypackage-1 # ls -l
ls -l
drwxr-xr-x system system 2012-07-16 15:07 lib
drwx------ root root 1970-01-01 09:00 lost+found
-rw-r----- system u0_a96 1319057 2012-07-16 15:07 pkg.apk
-rw-r--r-- system system 526091 2012-07-16 15:07 res.zip

In this example the full .apk is the system only readable pkg.apk.
Simply get a root file explorer - mount r/w - and get the .apk  - move to system app (the real folder may be different "system/app" or "system/priv-app") - restart. That's it smile

This may be different on many devices but it should work on every one.
If this is still not enough help i will maybe post a real tutorial with video in the future.
And don't forget - Google is your friend wink

Best regards,

Re: Convert Paid App to System App

hi, can you tell me how to revert it back to normal app? i can't move it to normal app with system app mover because its read only. I also tried to move the apk from system/priv-app but when I checked again after reboot, it still work as a system app.

Re: Convert Paid App to System App

Hi, I paid for you app - I am trying to use it on Andy (Android Emulator) - I am running Window 7 and every time I try and open your app (moved to System App) it crashes - I can see the app icon in at the top as if it's running in the background, but I can't get it to stay open - what do I need to do to make it work...

Re: Convert Paid App to System App

That's hard to say. I don't know how this Emulator works and the app is optimized for real devices. Maybe you should try Xposed

Re: Convert Paid App to System App

Hello,

Thanks for all your work!

I've successfully used many apps as system apps before. But I have had trouble using the Fake GPS Toolkit this way. After I move the .apk to "system/app" or "system/priv-app", reboot, and open the app, I get the same message at the bottom of the screen, telling me I should use it as system app, with xposed or with mock locations enabled.

Where could I check if my device is compatible with the app? I'm trying to run it on a Lenovo A3300 tablet.

Many thanks,

Phurerss

Re: Convert Paid App to System App

Hi.  I had a device fail and have replaced it with the same model. I had this app installed as a system app and for the life of me I can't remember how I was able to install it as a system app.  When I try to use a system app to do it they say I can't as it is a paid app.    Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for your help
